Shab-e-Yalda

The Tajiks Council of Australia warmly invites all members of the community, families and friends to join us in celebrating Shab-e Yalda, a cherished cultural tradition that brings generations together on the longest night of the year.

Shab-e Yalda – Yalda Night Celebration

Shab-e Yalda, also known as Yalda Night, is an ancient cultural celebration marking the longest night of the year. For generations, families and communities have gathered on this special occasion to spend time together, share food and seasonal fruits, enjoy poetry, music and stories, and celebrate friendship, unity and hope for the brighter days ahead.

For the Tajik community, Yalda is an opportunity to come together, strengthen community connections and preserve a meaningful cultural tradition for future generations.

The Tajiks Council of Australia is pleased to bring our community together for a memorable afternoon and evening of culture, friendship and celebration. We warmly welcome families, friends and community members to join us and share the spirit of Yalda together.

Celebrating Culture, Community and Tradition

Yalda is more than a celebration of the longest night of the year. It represents togetherness, warmth, friendship and the importance of maintaining connections between generations. Traditionally, families gather together, share fruits and food, recite poetry, tell stories and spend the evening in one another’s company.

Through celebrating Shab-e Yalda in Australia, we continue a cultural tradition that has been passed from generation to generation while giving our children and young people an opportunity to experience, understand and appreciate their cultural heritage.

The celebration will provide an opportunity for community members to reconnect with old friends, meet new families and enjoy an afternoon and evening together in a welcoming community environment.
