Official Opening of the Tajiks Council of Australia

The Tajiks Council of Australia was officially inaugurated on 16 November 2025, bringing together cultural figures, academics, community elders, and members of the Tajik community from across Victoria. The event marked a historic milestone in the establishment of an independent, community-led organisation dedicated to preserving Tajik identity, culture, language, and unity in Australia.

From its foundation, the Council has remained a fully independent, non-political, and community-based organisation. It operates solely in the interests of the Tajik community and is not affiliated with or directed by any political party, organisation, or external institution. All initiatives are undertaken through voluntary community participation and guided by the collective interests of Tajiks in Australia.

A special part of the ceremony was dedicated to recognising individuals whose contributions were instrumental in establishing the Council.

Professor Abdul Khaleq Lallzad received a special recognition award for his outstanding scholarly work, historical research, and lifelong contribution to preserving and promoting the history, identity, and cultural heritage of the Tajik people.

Mr. Saem Khorasani, Deputy Chairperson and one of the founders of the Tajiks Council of Australia, was recognised for his outstanding role in designing, organising, and guiding the Council’s establishment, as well as his active contribution to preparing the inauguration program.

Mr. Kaikaous Amire, Treasurer and one of the founders of the Tajiks Council of Australia, was recognised for his exceptional leadership, authorship of the Council’s Constitution, and pivotal role in establishing the Council and laying its organisational foundation.

Recognition was also presented to a number of dedicated volunteers and supporters whose commitment, teamwork, and countless hours of service made the successful organisation of this historic event possible.

The Council also extends its sincere appreciation to every committee member, volunteer, and organiser who contributed across cultural programming, logistics, finance, hospitality, media, security, and overall coordination. Their collective efforts ensured the event was delivered professionally and reflected the unity and aspirations of the Tajik community.

Recordings of the inauguration ceremony will be released in stages through the Council’s official platforms, allowing community members who were unable to attend to experience this historic occasion.

The opening of the Tajiks Council of Australia represents the beginning of a new chapter for the Tajik community in Australia. Built on democratic principles, transparency, cultural preservation, and community service, the Council is committed to strengthening unity, supporting future generations, and representing the interests of Tajiks with integrity and accountability.
