Members of the Tajik community gathered to review and vote on the Constitution of the Tajiks Council of Australia and to formally elect the Chairperson. This important event marked a significant step in establishing a transparent, democratic, and legally structured organisation dedicated to representing and strengthening the Tajik community across Australia.

The General Assembly provided members with the opportunity to engage in open discussion, review the proposed constitutional frameworks, and contribute to the future direction of the Council. The meeting reflected a shared commitment to democratic values, accountability, transparency, and meaningful community participation.

During the General Assembly, a couple of constitutional drafts were presented for discussion and consideration. After careful review and constructive deliberation, the constitutional framework prepared and presented by Mr. Kaikaous Amire received the confidence and endorsement of the Council of Elders. The Council recognised the draft for its comprehensive organisational structure, commitment to democratic governance, transparency, accountability, and its long-term vision for establishing a strong, sustainable, and nationally representative Tajiks Council of Australia.

Following the adoption of the Constitution, the Council of Elders resolved that the newly elected leadership would serve an initial one-year transitional term. During this period, the leadership team was entrusted with implementing the newly adopted Constitution, establishing the Council’s organisational and administrative structure, developing governance policies and operational procedures, strengthening community engagement, and preparing the organisation for its first official democratic election under the adopted Constitution. The transitional leadership was also tasked with developing strategic plans, organisational systems, and administrative foundations that would enable future elected leadership teams to build upon and further improve the Council in the years ahead.

The adoption of the Constitution established a solid legal and organisational foundation for the Tajiks Council of Australia. It defines the Council’s objectives, organisational structure, membership framework, governance model, and decision-making processes while promoting fairness, responsible leadership, and institutional integrity.

Following the adoption of the Constitution, the Council of Elders proceeded with the election of the Council’s leadership in accordance with the newly adopted constitutional framework. Through a fair and transparent decision-making process, the Council of Elders elected Mr. Abdullah Haris as Chairperson of the Tajiks Council of Australia. Mr. Najib Saem was elected as First Vice Chairperson, while Mr. Aziz Omar was elected as Second Vice Chairperson.

The successful adoption of the Constitution and the election of the inaugural leadership marked a historic milestone in the establishment of the Tajiks Council of Australia. The Assembly concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening unity, preserving Tajik culture and the Persian (Dari) language, promoting community engagement, and building a transparent, accountable, and representative organisation dedicated to serving current and future generations of Tajiks across Australia.
